Meet the Doula
My journey as a birth and post partum doula began in February of 2006.
It suddenly just hit me (my "ah-ha" moment!) on my way back to Halifax after a visit to a good friend in Montreal who had just had her second baby. While visiting my friend, I found myself instinctively acting as their post partum doula, even though I'd had no formal training.
I completed my birth doula training in the Spring of 2007, here in Halifax. I followed up with my post partum doula training in Ottawa, Ontario during the summer of 2007. I am now fully certified with DONA International as both a birth and post partum doula - the designation is: CD(DONA), PCD(DONA).
Currently my work involves birth and post partum doula services (both private and workshop format), facilitating a weekly breastfeeding mother's group in South End Halifax, acting as the Director of Communications for the Nova Scotia Doula Association, as well as my other full time job of wife and mother.
